Contact lenses
Do I need a prescription to order contact lenses?
Contact lenses should be chosen according to a valid contact lens prescription from an eye care professional. A glasses prescription is not the same as a contact lens prescription, because the values and lens fit can differ.
What do the values on my prescription mean?
PWR or SPH is the sphere power (minus for short-sightedness, plus for long-sightedness). CYL and AXIS correct astigmatism and are used for toric lenses. ADD is the near-vision addition used for multifocal lenses. BC is the base curve and DIA is the lens diameter. All values should match your prescription for the specific lens brand.
What is the difference between daily, two-week and monthly lenses?
Daily lenses are worn once and thrown away, so no cleaning solution is needed. Two-week and monthly lenses are replaced every 14 or 30 days and must be cleaned and stored in a contact lens solution every night.
I have astigmatism. Which lenses do I need?
Astigmatism is corrected with toric lenses, which have cylinder (CYL) and axis (AXIS) values. We carry daily, two-week and monthly toric lenses from several brands.
I have trouble seeing up close. Are there suitable lenses?
Multifocal contact lenses correct near, intermediate and distance vision in one lens and are a common solution for presbyopia. A fitting by an eye care professional is recommended.
Which contact lens brands do you carry?
Alcon (DAILIES, PRECISION1, TOTAL30, AIR OPTIX), Johnson & Johnson (ACUVUE), CooperVision (MyDay, clariti, Biofinity), Bausch + Lomb (Biotrue, SofLens, PureVision2, ULTRA), Soflex and Shamir.
Can I switch to a different lens brand on my own?
This is not recommended. Brands differ in material, base curve and fit, so switching should be done with your eye care professional.
Solutions and eye drops
Which contact lens solution should I use?
Two-week and monthly soft lenses can be cleaned with a multi-purpose solution or a hydrogen peroxide system. Peroxide solutions must be used only with the case supplied and never placed directly in the eye. Rigid (RGP) lenses need dedicated solutions. Daily lenses do not need any solution.
Eyeglasses and sunglasses
How do I know which frame size fits me?
The three numbers printed on the inside of the temple of your current glasses show the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. Each product page lists the frame size so you can compare.
